OSMOSIS

An exhibition featuring art made by security guards from New York City’s most acclaimed museums. Made as an independent project.

They watch the art. They watch you watch the art. But who watches what the art does to them?

After learning that many museum guards are artists themselves, I spent a year planning an exhibition where—instead of watching over art—they could showcase their own.

A year-long personal project that began solo, then became an incredible partnership with Kenisha Rullan, Lucas Tristão & Boris Opacic of Gentle Cowboys.

Recognized with a Vimeo Staff Pick, Clio & AICP Award, with coverage by New York Nico, ItsNiceThat, Shots, and a DM from world-famous art critic Jerry Saltz.

First, we filmed a documentary short inside The Met that explored the duality between artist & guard.

Then, we brought guards from The Met, Guggenheim, Frick, Noguchi & Brooklyn Museum together for a first-of-its-kind exhibition.

All 15 artists were given complete flexibility in the piece they exhibited, so long as—in the spirit of “osmosis”—it connected back to the art they guard in their respective museum.

🧠 Made with Lucas Tristão, Boris Opacic & Kenisha Rullan as an independent project.

⚡ Film directed by Nick Sokoloff, shot by Blake Myers, edited by Stacy Peterson & produced by Thereza Helena.
